|
 |
Use of chemicals and pesticides are a necessary part of many businesses. In the vast majority of uses, these products are used and applied responsibly, safely and according to labels, but in some cases the products may enter non-target areas.
Spray drift may cause damage to non-target areas, harmful effects to people or other flora and fauna, community concern and harm to trade or reputation. Spray drift may also lead to lengthy and expensive litigation.
For 10 years, 4T has been active in programs to reduce spray drift, train operators, produce information and conduct investigations with the aim of reducing spray drift.
4T uses a range of tools and field investigation methods to establish the extent of damage, the severity and the likely consequences.
Use of state of the art GIS systems assist to determine patterns of deposition, source direction and possible/probable sources of the contamination.
4T has made use of all these tools together with intensive field survey and assessment methods to provide detailed information for clients.
If you believe that you have suffered loss or damage to crops or stock caused by spray drift, in the first instance, you should notify the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (DPI&F) by contacting the DPIF business information centre on 13 25 23 (cost of a local call within Queensland) or +61 7 3404 6999.
