Routine water monitoring of discharges and streams
4T has suitably qualified personnel to take samples in accordance with EPA water sampling and monitoring guidelines.
The 4T team can provide:
• Consistent, reliable program of routine sampling,
• Field analysis of some parameters using modern, properly calibrated equipment
• NATA accredited laboratory analysis.
• Flow monitoring
• Integration with other monitoring services (e.g. climate, seepage) to provide a more complete assessment
• Macroinvertebrate, and birdlife monitoring
• Riparian vegetation assessments
Grab or ‘spot’ samples could also be taken at any time for specific analyses, and additional sampling could also be undertaken at any site designated by clients.
Water sampling and monitoring can be done at any site and according to schedules determined by the client. The 4T team has adequate resources to provide reliable services.
Monitoring of pit water, dams, weirs and temporary storages
4T can monitor according to the parameters that the client specifies, and any specific requirements according to a program:
We can conduct:
• Monitoring to meet EA requirements (e.g. pit water, discharges, potable water)
• Property monitoring for best practice and property plan requirements (e.g. tailwater, runoff)
• Pit, storage and dam monitoring, including sampling at depth,
• Nutrient and contaminant sampling and analysis
• Blue green algae sampling and analysis
• Depth profiling for quality, temperature, electrical conductivity and other parameters,
• Sediment sampling and analysis
• Contaminant sampling and analysis
• Aquatic and riparian ecosystem monitoring and assessments
• Specific monitoring such as dam evaporation and loss assessments.
• Sample planning, analysis and reporting and liaison with the client and EPA to ensure standards are maintained.
4T has the required competencies to sample the water, perform field analyses/assessments and provide detailed analyses through our designated laboratories.
Stream and river monitoring (on-site and off-site)
4T has competent personnel to conduct all water quality monitoring, soil/sediment sampling and vegetation assessments:
The 4T team can provide:
• Consistent, reliable programs of routine and/or grab sampling,
• Field analysis of some parameters using modern, properly calibrated equipment
• NATA accredited laboratory analysis for more comprehensive analyses.
• Depth profiling for quality, temperature, electrical conductivity and other parameters,
• Sediment sampling and analysis
• Riparian vegetation assessments
• Aquatic and riparian ecosystem monitoring and assessments (including macroinvertebrate and bird monitoring)
• Detailed water monitoring to meet Transitional Environmental Permit (TEP) requirements
• Flow monitoring
• Specific monitoring such as dam evaporation and loss assessments.
• In-stream monitoring and logging if required.
• Integration with other monitoring services (e.g. climate, seepage) to provide a more complete assessment
• Sample planning, analysis and reporting and liaison with the client and EPA to ensure standards are maintained.
4T has long term experience of intensive monitoring in Central Queensland river systems and would bring this experience and knowledge to any program.
4T can provide clients with regular condition and trend summaries and reports. Senior managers supervise monitoring programs and mentor the less experienced field officers..
Groundwater monitoring
4T has competent personnel to conduct all ground water monitoring, sample management and reporting.
4T is currently monitoring groundwater for a number of mining companies and landholders.
4T has invested in the latest sampling equipment to test bore depths and water quality, and have established full chain of custody and QA procedures.
Our groundwater sample pumps are low flow types so that the pumping action is matched to the refill rate. The volume that has to be pumped to achieve sample stabilization is minimized and to ensure optimal sample quality.
Our current methods are suitable for collection of specialized samples such as VOCs, SVOCs, PAH or other residues.
We can test and monitor peizometers and other specialized test bores.
Blue green algae (BGA) monitoring
4T has the required competencies for sampling water bodies for blue-green algae. On site assessments and recording of BGA presence or absence and photo-recording can be undertaken. Limited microscopic identification can be done at 4T Emerald, but detailed microscopic assessments are undertaken by NATA accredited laboratories.
Any BGA samples would be accompanied by water quality and nutrient analyses to assist the client to identify reasons for blooms and to develop modified practices to reduce the likelihood of future blooms.
A cyanobacteria cell count and report is provided to the client. Results can be charted to provide trends over time. Photo records of the site and any algal scum would be taken and reported. Severe blooms would be reported immediately and precautionary principles applied, particularly if the site is a source of potable drinking water.
Dust deposition and air quality monitoring
4T has suitably qualified personnel and is fully equipped to carry out dust deposition monitoring and analysis, including microscopic examination of fractions. Monitoring is carried out according to national (AS 3580.10.1) and EPA standards.
4T can install and maintain the dust monitoring sites and equipment, and can also provide air quality monitoring if required.
Blast, vibration and sound monitoring
4T, in association with partner companies, can provide blast and vibration monitoring services. 4T can also install monitoring equipment if required.
